GPP Transition to Foundation Status: Introducing the New Board Members

The Geneva Peacebuilding Platform evolved from a partnership model to a foundation status earlier this year. This significant milestone in the Platform's development brings with it a new governance structure and the appointment of its first governing Board.

Meet the Board

The newly appointed Board members, responsible for the strategic orientation of the GPP, bring to the Platform their extensive experience in peacebuilding, international security, governance, and humanitarian affairs. The Geneva Graduate Institute, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), DCAF - the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance were the founding institutions of the GPP Foundation, and therefore were represented by their directors since May. In August 2024, they were joined by the Director of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), one of the three internationally recognised centres established by Switzerland for foreign, security and peace policy, along with the GCSP and DCAF.

A New Chapter: The Geneva Peacebuilding Platform Foundation

This transition enhances its organizational resilience and capacity to engage a wider range of stakeholders, from international organizations and civil society to academia and beyond. As a foundation, the Platform is better positioned to drive forward its mission of advancing innovative peacebuilding practices and to continue improving our annual flagship event: Geneva Peace Week. Under the strategic leadership of its Board of Directors, the Platform is well-positioned to drive forward its vision for the future of the GPP.
